The Trail of Lights at Downsview Park

Holiday Light Display

A welcome to the North Pole hangs in lights (2008)

Marilyn Campbell
The Trail of Lights at Downsview Park is a newer holiday event in Toronto. The giant park and event space in North York is decorated with LED light displays that line a three kilometre gravel and asphalt trail.

When the event was introduced in 2008 it was strictly a walking trail. This made for an ideal evening for families and hand-holding couples, with the outdoor nature of the Trail of Lights giving it a unique atmosphere among Toronto's in-city holiday events. For 2009 the event has switched over to be primarily a vehicle tour, with the five Wednesday nights in December as the only designated pedestrian days.
