Tree Farm Tips

  • Like the idea of visiting the tree farm, but not the idea of cutting down the tree? Most farms offer pre-cut trees as well.

  • Dogs on leash are welcome at some farms; call to confirm before bringing them.

  • Only some farms will accept credit or debit cards, so bringing cash is always a good idea.

  • Farms should have saws for you to borrow, but if you want to bring your own the Canadian Tree Farmers of Ontario request you use a coarse tooth hand saw (no matter how awesome an ax or chainsaw may seem).

  • You know how you measured the space at home where you want to put the tree (Step 3)? Remember to bring something to measure the tree!

  • Dress warmly, even if it seems mild here in the city. Also, wear good boots for tramping around in the bush.

  • Remember you have to get the tree home! Bring rope to tie everything down.
