While some lights were left on inside businesses that were closed, some of those that were open chose to work by candlelight.

One example was just up the street from Bloor and Christie, one block west of Bathurst. Inside Rocco's Plum Tomato diners enjoyed the added atmosphere of eating a late dinner by candlelight. For many restaurants and cafes the candles made for a real event, as did unplugged entertainment.
