Irish Pubs in Toronto

By , About.com Guide

Looking for a friendly place to enjoy a pint? These Irish pubs in Toronto offer great food, drink, and atmosphere.

Dora Keogh

Located on the Danforth just east of Broadview, Dora Keogh is exactly what you'd expect an Irish pub to be. Small enough to be intimate but big enough to get a real party feel, the place regularly hosts musicians and other arts events. Reserve in advance and your group can share a large meal around a big wood table in Yer Ma's Kitchen in the back. Or just show up one night, grab a stool and a Guinness, and enjoy.

Allen's Restaurant

Right next door to Dora Keogh is Allen's Restaurant, where the beer certainly flows but the real focus is on the food.

McVeigh's New Windsor Tavern

Known best for its genuine atmosphere, McVeigh's is a favorite for many who are just looking to enjoy a few drinks with friends in the downtown core.

Fynn's of Temple Bar

I haven't been to Fynn's yet myself, but their website promises a blending of traditional Irish culture with more modern ideas such as "healthy food selections".

Fionn MacCool's

Fionn MacCool's has three locations in Toronto, all of which boast large menus and weekly events. While these corporate franchises may not have as much genuine Irish atmosphere as some of the independents, there's no denying they provide good service, good food and a good time.

The Irish Embassy

Sitting in the Financial District, The Irish Embassy is understandably more fancy than some. Word is tables are scarce and so is elbow room during peak after-work hours.

Another of Toronto's posh Irish pubs, P.J. O'Brien is classy and comfy, and just a few minutes walk from The Irish Embassy.
