It's back to school after the Labour Day weekend, but the Toronto International Film Festival, the Queen West Art Crawl and the Toronto Waterfront Marathon are coming up to start fall off right. Find out more about these and other special events taking place in Toronto in September 2009.

The Toronto Vegetarian Association presents exhibits, ideas and products for both dedicated vegetarians and anyone who is looking to add some new meals to their repertoire. The fair takes place at Harbourfront Centre and admission is free.

The Terry Fox Run
Honour the memory of Terry Fox and keep the Marathon of Hope alive by running, pledging or volunteering to support cancer research.

The Toronto In-Water Boat Show
Novice and dedicated boaters alike will find something of interest at Ontario Place where you'll be able to see boats for sale or learn about boating basics. You can also take your Pleasure Craft Operator Card test right at the show and enjoy live entertainment.

The Manifesto Festival of Community and Culture
Five days of arts and culture events culminate in a free day of arts and music at Nathan Phillips Square.

Queen West Art Crawl
The hub of the Queen West Art Crawl is Trinity Bellwoods Park, where the show and sale takes place. But take a tour through the Parkdale neighborhood on the arts crawl weekend and you'll find buskers, art installations, galleries, and community groups and business with doors open to the arts and to visitors. Begun by Artscape, the Queen West Art Crawl is now being run by the Parkdale Liberty Economic Corporation, with Artscape staying on as a community partner.

Car Free Day
Your car looks happy in the driveway. Happier than you look stuck in traffic. Take a break from driving and walk, transit, bike or blade to wherever you're going - including Yonge-Dundas Square for the Car Free Day festivities.

Visit the Better Living Centre at Exhibition Place to browse and buy new, vintage and one-of-a-kind clothing and accessories. Tickets are $8 online or $10 at the door.

Head to St. Clair Avenue West near Christie Street for this annual community celebration of literature, music and of course, visual art.

Coupled with a free Youth Training Program in North Etobicoke, UrbanNOISE uses the arts to "make noise against violence".

Toronto Waterfront Marathon
The Toronto Waterfront Marathon is a full, half or 5K run that begins and ends at Nathan Phillips Square. As the name suggests, most of the run takes place along Lakeshore Boulevard, providing a wonderful view for participants.

The Word on the Street
The Word on the Street is an annual book and magazine festival that features author readings and publisher displays. It's an outdoor event taking place rain or shine in a series of tent venues set up within Queen's Park. Admission is free but remember the Waterfront Marathon (above) is on the same day so taking transit is recommended.
