Patrolling Cherry Beach

Or is it Clark Beach Park?

From Marilyn Campbell, About.com

Unfortunately if you're not a security guard on patrol, there aren't any opportunities for you to go horseback riding on Cherry Beach.

But for animal lovers there is an off-leash area for dogs, which is referred to in off-leash dog park lists both as "Cherry Beach Park" and "Clarke Beach Park". That's because the area was originally named Clarke Beach in 1934, after then Alderman Harry Clarke. In more recent years residents had taken to calling the area Cherry Beach due to its location at the foot of Cherry Street. In 2003 Toronto City Council decided to meet local practice half-way, renaming the beach portion south of the parking lots "Cherry Beach" and the treed area north of the parking lots "Clarke Beach Park".
