The park areas in the Portlands are getting revamped as well, with portions giving way to the Sports Transition Field. The artificial turf of the sports field is being put in while work is done on both Commissioners Park and Lake Ontario Park, with the transitional fields designed to last for ten years. The trees directly surrounding Cherry Beach are staying however, providing a pleasant backdrop for beach goers and those utilizing the Martin Goodman Trail.
