A Walk Along Cherry Street

From Marilyn Campbell, About.com

At first glance the Portlands (also known by the two-word version Port Lands) seems like a mostly abandoned industrial area. Sitting on the shore of Lake Ontario at the base of the Don Valley, it has actually long been home to several recreational facilities and a popular beach and trail system, with new projects on the way. Cherry Street serves as the western entrance into the Portlands, running straight through to Lake Ontario.
