Things to Do in Toronto This Weekend: Friday November 2 - Sunday November 4, 2012

By November 1, 2012

Follow me on:

  • The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair begins on Friday and runs until November 11 at Exhibition Place.

  • Harbourfront Centre is having a Day of the Dead Festival on Saturday and Sunday.

  • There are several events coming up on the Toronto Film Festivals Calendar, including the International Diaspora Film Festival, the Moving Image Film Festival and the Breast Fest Film Fest, all on this weekend.

  • Holocaust Education Week runs from November 1 to November 8, offering talks, film screenings and exhibitions at numerous venues.

  • Saturday and Sunday is the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre's annual Road to Asia Festival.

  • Seeing as tonight is the first Thursday of the month, it's time for another 1st Thursday party at the AGO.

  • Speaking of the Art Gallery of Ontario, on Saturday and Sunday ROM Members can visit the AGO for free.

  • This is the final weekend for the Toronto Chocolate Festival, which includes tastings and chocolate-making demos at The Chocolate Show at Roy Thomson Hall on Sunday.

  • You can keep the creepy Halloween mood going a little longer this weekend by immersing yourself in some "adventure theatre", hiding out or taking on a more active role during a (fictional) virus outbreak that's been brewing since the Fringe Festival. On Friday and Saturday, Byologic: Retreat at Evergreen Brickworks offers a variety of ways to participate in this story of "lifestyle biotechnology" gone wrong.

  • The International Home Show is on from Thursday to Sunday at the International Centre (near Pearson airport).

  • The Mimico-by-the-Lake BIA is holding their first annual Mimico Pumpkin Parade tonight (Thursday), inviting residents to bring their jack-o-lanterns to Amos Waites Park for a final chance to shine (before being collected by the city for disposal).

  • And from the calendar of User-submitted events for November:
    • Cirque Éloize iD is at the Sony Centre, November 1-3.
    • The Young Women of Influence speaker series presents "Negotiating Blockbuster Deals" with Anne Fitzgerald, Chief Legal Officer of Cineplex Inc., tonight (Thursday) at the Intercontinental Toronto Yorkville.
    • And Shakespeare in Action's Shakespeare for Kids Library Clubs begin this Saturday at various TPL branches.

If you're an event planner hosting something this weekend, feel free to tell us about it in the comments section below. For later events, learn how to submit an event listing to About.com: Toronto.
