  • Scotiabank Nuit Blanche is the big event for this weekend, as art takes over the city from 6:55pm Saturday night until sunrise on Sunday.

  • On Friday at 12:30pm Mirvish Productions is presenting a free Sound of Music Concert in Nathan Phillips Square. As an added bonus, the first 99 people who come to the event dressed as a nun will receive a pair of tickets to the October 31st performance.

  • The annual Boot It Up fundraiser for SKETCH: Working Arts for Street Involved and Homeless Youth brings artistically-altered Blundstone boots to the Steamwhistle Roundhouse tonight (Thursday).

  • The Royal Ontario Museum is busy this weekend with the new Vanity Fair Portraits exhibit open, a Muslim Heritage Weekend for Kids on from Saturday to Monday and a free neighbourhood walk on Sunday.

  • Speaking of the Vanity Fair exhibit, at the same time there's also an exhibit of '20s and '30s fashion photography by Edward Stiechen on at the AGO.

  • This Sunday from noon until 4:30pm High Park is having a Harvest Festival with an emphasis on family activities and exploring the urban wilderness.

  • Also on Sunday is the Fall Fair at Downsview Park, offering free family activities from 11am to 4pm.

  • For more urban wilderness, Sunday is also Bruce Trail Day and the Toronto Bruce Trail club will be leading two hikes, including one that begins with a bus trip from downtown Toronto to Scotsdale Farm in Georgetown ($5, first-come, first-served).

  • Halloween Haunt at Canada's Wonderland begins this Friday and will continue every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until November 1st.

  • The Fall Home Show begins today and continues until Sunday at the Better Living Centre, Exhibition Place.

  • And for funky families there's a Where the Wild Things Are themed Bunch Family Dance Party on Sunday from 2-5pm at the Revival on College.

If you're an event planner hosting something this weekend, feel free to tell us about it in the comments section below. For later events, add them to the October User-Posted Event Listings (or the user posted events for November).
