Things to Do in Toronto This Weekend: February 20 - February 22, 2009

By February 19, 2009

Follow me on:

  • Already on at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and the Rogers Centre, the Canadian International Auto Show continues through to Sunday.

  • The Icefest Festival comes to Yorkville this weekend with ice carving demonstrations and displays from Friday to Sunday.

  • The Outdoor Adventure Show is on at The International Centre (near the airport) from Friday to Sunday.

  • The National Home Show begins on Friday and will continue to March 1st at at the Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place.

  • If you'd like to do do something a little different this Friday night consider Palais d'Hiver at Hart House, where modern circus arts and a carnival atmosphere combine to create a live performance and cocktail party that promises to be a "Dark & Seductive Circus for the Senses".

  • Pages Books brings another installment of TINARS for Tots to the Gladstone Hotel Ballroom on Saturday morning with two new children's books from Kids Can Press.

  • Another option for mothers with young children who are looking to get out for a little culture is to join ArtStrollers on Saturday for a tour of the ROM's "Nature of Diamonds" and "Housepaint" exhibits.

  • While they're there the ArtStrollers will likely notice that Saturday is South Asian Heritage Day at the Royal Ontario Museum with music, dance, food and kids' activities all included with admission.

  • If you're more into gardening than museums, on Saturday the Toronto Botanical Garden invites you to Get the Jump on Spring with free mini-lectures, an open house featuring horticultural and environmental organizations and stores, free one-on-one advice and more.

  • And on Saturday night you can head to the National Ballet School for ecoSUAVE, a classy evening of live music and sampling of sustainably made food and drink for "young professionals interested in minimizing their environmental footprint".

  • Sunday of course is Oscar night, which includes some free screenings and fancy parties around the city.

If you're an event planner hosting something this weekend, feel free to tell us about it in the comments below. If your event is still awhile off, you can always post it in the "Events and Activities" section of the About Toronto Forum.

gee… this is reliable. The Oscars aren’t this Sunday – they’re not for another two weeks!

Any of those other things actually happening this weekend, or are those also not until March?
