How Your Drinking Can Help Fight Disease

Thursday May 15, 2008
No, this isn't about the latest study linking moderate wine-drinking to heart health. But by holding on to any empty beer, wine or liquor bottles you happen to collect over the next week and a bit (*cough* May Two-Four Weekend *cough*), you can help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.

On Saturday May 23rd and Sunday May 24th anyone returning bottles to The Beer Store will be asked if they would like to donate some or all of their return money to support the Society. Last year, the Ontario-wide bottle drive raised $500,000 to help fight blood cancers.

If you're not a drinker, they're also looking for volunteers to help facilitate. Of course you can also help by spreading the word to anyone you think will have an excess of jangling empties in the near future.
