Museum Mysteries Uncovered on Tuesday - Ancient Egyptian Haunting by Wednesday?
|
Toronto Star writer Leslie Scrivener has done a nice summary of both the design and its detractors, but I thought the most interesting tidbit in her article was about the new Museum lettering. Apparently those hieroglyphics used within the sign are actually based on the tomb inscriptions for a real Egyptian nobleman who died over 4,000 years ago.
Real hieroglyphics. Borrowed for modern purposes.
Now all we need is some eager Ph.d student to try to impress their new boyfriend/girlfriend by reading the 'glyphs aloud, and we'll have an action-adventure/horror film on our hands. Which is far more entertaining than a standard morning commute.
