Discovering the Late Jeff Healey Online

Jeff Healey is one of those people I always wish I knew more about. Hearing of his passing yesterday less than a month from his 42nd birthday, I naturally turned to the internet to fill in the gaps in my knowledge about this Toronto musician.

CBC provides a nice overview of his life and work in their article "Tributes pour in for Toronto blues-jazz musician Jeff Healey". And of course his website, JeffHealey.com has even more detail on his life and work.

Overall though, I think YouTube is where I've come to get the best sense of him. Sure, it has the video for Angel Eyes, which the CBC says he is best known for. And yes, it has plenty of his live performances of other well-known tunes, such as his performance of Deep Purple's When A Blind Man Cries with Ian Gillan.

But best of all is a clip taken from a television broadcast where they didn't even get his name right (See the Light - Jeff Heavy). This, I suspect, is the energy, talent and humor everyone keeps talking about.
