Outrageous Screening Tonight

Monday January 21, 2008
I knew the film Outrageous had female impersonation, but I had no idea it had so much Toronto.

Outrageous is screening tonight at Cinematheque Ontario, so The Toronto Star has an article by Susan Walker that provides some nice background on the 1977 film. Along with details on the cast and the performance by Craig Russell that the film is best known for, she also mentions how prominent Toronto itself is in the film, including the skating rink outside city hall and the Sam the Record Man building that's now owned by Ryerson University. So if you're interested in Richard Benner's film or in seeing a Toronto of decades past, you'll want to get yourself to Jackman Hall (317 Dundas Street West) by 7:30pm.

Hi Marilyn,

I coordinated book sales at the event, auhor Thomas Waugh, introduced the film.

From what I heard, it was a success.

Thanks for the added publicity!

Hi Jeff

I’m glad to hear the event went well (or at least, glad to hear that you heard it went well). I’m always happy to mention events that have both a wide appeal and something unique — and Outrageous certainly seemed to fit the bill.

Waugh’s The Romance of Transgression in Canada looks like a fascinating read. Best of luck with the sales at future events.

Marilyn
